The Perfect Life
SHOW PROGRAMME
A warm, funny and deeply honest new Australian musical about four women navigating the beautiful contradictions of modern womanhood: ambition and exhaustion, desire and duty, love and self-loss - and the friendships that carry them through it all. Created by ARIA award-winning singer-songwriter Amity Dry (The Lighthouse), The Perfect Life is a celebration of the real stories we don’t post: the bathroom-floor doubts, the unexpected joy, and the fierce loyalty that lasts when everything else shifts. With a powerhouse cast of Australia’s finest musical theatre talent, it is part confession, part love letter, and entirely relatable.

THANK YOU
To my children Jamison and Poppy, who inspired this show. I will be forever thankful that you chose me to be your Mum. To my husband Ben, who taught me what a good marriage is and supports me in every conceivable way. BG - there is no way I could have produced this show without you holding me and our family together for the last few months and I am so incredibly grateful for all the ways you show your love. To Olive and Ilario, my two bonus kids, who have adjusted to a stepmum who does annoying vocal warmups and three family members who are often loud and dramatic. And to my parents Jeff and Jeanine, who are my biggest supporters.
To Jo Casson, it has been so fabulous working with you on this project. Thank you for helping me bring it back to life and for getting shit done. Martin Cheney, for juggling this show around a newborn and being a warm and kind presence in the room. Marco Callisto, for your excellent arrangements and overall enthusiasm. Bec Francis, for going above and beyond with the time and attention you gave the set design and show in general. To Kerrie, Chloe and Dee, who all said yes immediately and have been an absolute joy to work with. I will miss seeing you all every day!
To Chris Taylor, for your time and generosity in designing the artwork. To Amanda and Nikki, for finding time for this project around small children and shows for small children! To Craig Williams, for your production expertise and saying yes to this show when you didn’t have to. To Jonathon Rice at Pulteney College and Martin Cheney at Scotch College for the rehearsal space. To Anisha Bhardwaj and Chloé Zuel for your assistance with social media. To the front of house staff for generously giving their time – Vanessa, Addi, Taylor, Kerry-Lynne, Leanne, Ben, Liam, Wendy, Karen, Carmel, Anne, Poppy, Olive and Ilario. To Daniel Sparrow, who produced the show in London and has always believed in its potential. To the original cast, Rachel, Nikki and Susan, who are still dear friends. To Mark Ferguson, who had a huge influence on the original version and helped me bring a very early idea to life. To Nathan and Alex at OC, for encouraging me to do this show even though it meant time away from my day job. To Maddy, my wonderful associate, for taking care of our team so well in my absence. To my beautiful girlfriends (you know who you are), Thank You for always having my back. And to every person who bought a ticket and supported this show - Thank You!
